DAY 1 - NZ Short Course Championships
Three Gold Medals for Taranaki Swimmers at the first day of competition at New Zealand Short Course Championships being held in Wellington from 6 – 9 August.
Charlotte Webby 23 (Aquabladz Taranaki) lead the race and won Gold in the women’s 17yrs & over Butterfly final in 2:11.81. Teammate Julian Weir 15 (Aquabladz Taranaki) was outstanding in his events and won Gold in 200m Freestyle in Taranaki record time of 1:54.60 (previously Dylan Dunlop-Barrett 1:55.80) and Gold in 100m Backstroke 56.37 (previously own of 58.66).
Other swimmers to make finals on day one were:
Jay Cadman-Kennedy 15 (Inglewood) 5th in 15yrs 1500m Freestyle 16:31.08,
Ryan Cooper 15 (Stratford) 6th in 15yrs 1500m Freestyle 16:39.26; 9th in 100m Backstroke 1:02.24
Dylan Dunlop-Barrett 20 (NPA) 6th in 17yrs & over 1500m Freestyle 15:32.11,
Bianca Bradley 17 (Aquabladz) 6th in 17yrs & over 200m Butterfly 2:17.38,
Ann-Marie O’Donnell 15 (NPA)10th in 200m Butterfly 2:38.93,
Charlotte Webby 9th in 50m Butterfly 28.70,
D’ani Allen 16 (Aquabladz) 9th in 100m Backstroke 1:08.95
Aquabladz Taranaki relay team of Charlotte Webby, Nam Northcott, Sophie Scott and Bianca Bradley finished 9th in the final of the Women’s 16 & over 4 x 50m Club Freestyle Relay
