Swimming Taranaki AGM Awards
Margarett Higgison (Stratford), Sharon Arlidge (Opunake) and Denyse Salisbury (Highlands) received their Swimming Taranaki Service Award for their contribution to swimming for over 15 years.
Cath Tippett was awarded the Gayton Trophy for her outstanding contribution in all areas of swimming over the last year.
It was a wonderful night with Cecilie Elliott speaking on her role with SNZ as Schools Swim Safe Advisor (Taranaki). Almost 60 schools have taken up the State Kiwi Swim Safe programme which is completely free to all children in years 1-8.
Steve Ander who is on the Bell Block Pool Society spoke about what is involved in running the Methanex Bell Block Aquatic Centre - again very interesting.
Finally Donna Bouzaid spoke on behalf of Charlotte Webby of her time at the FINA World champs in Singapore and Tokyo last October. The audience was in stitches of laughter by the time Donna told a few stories!!
