Taranaki 12/U Summer Champs finished on a high note

Ninety nine swimmers raced hard over the weekend in the TSB pool, Stratford for medals, ribbons and qualifying times to their national meets.

It was a brilliant atmosphere for the three sessions.  The technical committee must be congratulated on organising Jo Davidson and Ross Bragg to come down from Auckland and take a seminar which saw the following people pass qualifications:

Rowan Williams - Regional Starter

Max Murray - Regional IOT

Alison Gadsby - Regional IOT

Channa Perry - Regional Referee

Cath Tippett - National Starter

Our sincere congratulations to you all - it is wonderful for our region.

Congratulations to the following swimmers who broke Taranaki Records over the weekend:

Joshua Gilbert, Stratford Swimming Club Boys 9/U 400IM in a time of 7:02.61;

Aquabladz Taranaki Swimming Club Girls 12/U 200m Medley (Ruby Scott, Ella Powell, Kaitlyn Tippett, Keely O'Keeffe) in a time of 2:31.14;

Claudia Taylor, Stratford Swimming Club Girls 9/U 100m backstroke in a time of 1:29.81 and 200m IM in a time of 3:13.41.

Of course the Family Relay was a spectacular finale to the weekend - there were kilts, pompoms, pink bikinis and pigtails amongst the more serious of swimmers.  Congratulations to the Dingle Family who won the trophy for 2010-11.
