Julian Weir, Ben Nelson and Glenn Anderson set new Taranaki Records last weekend at the BOP champs, Mt Maunganui

Taranaki had 70 swimmers compete at the BOP Winter Champs last weekend with some outstanding results in all age groups.

Julian Weir is continuing to chisel off records almost every time he enters the water - the latest this season are is own 50m backstroke record in a time of 28.22 and Jackson Arlidges 100m backstroke record set in 2006 going under the minute in a time of 59.36, previously 1:00.29.

Ben Nelson also took a long standing record from Brady Corkill (2003) in the 200m breaststroke in a time of 2:35.14, previously 2:36.03.  And not to be shown up by his younger team mates Glenn Anderson broke his own 50m freestyle time in 23.91 previously 24.34.

Many swimmers also gained qualifying times for their respective national meets later in the season.
