Ruby Scott gains a Bronze Medal at NZ Junior Nationals

Seven Taranaki rcords were lowered at the Junior National Swimming Championships held at the Kilbirnie 50m pool in Wellington over the weekend.The meet for 10 yrs and under, 11 and 12 yr olds saw a number of Taranaki swimmers ranked in the top ten nationally.

Joshua Gilbert Stratford 9yr old boys competing in the 10yr and under events took three Taranaki records, was outstanding in the 200m breaststroke lowering own previous record by 13 seconds from 3.36.72 to 3.23.87.   He set a new mark in the 50m breaststroke of 44.47 previous record 45.63 set by Kara McPherson Stratford in 1994 and in the 200m freestyle in a time of 2.43.12 lowered his own previous time of 2.52.00.

 Claudia Taylor Stratford 9yr old girls in the 50m backstroke set a new time of 40.54 previous time 41.18 set by Anneka Kilmore Bell Block in 2002.  She lowered her own record in the 200m individual medley of 3.17.99 new time of 3.11.36.

Maya Dickson New Plymouth Aquatics 9yr old girls set a new record in the 200m freestyle in a time of 2.49.19 previous time 2.51.63 set by Claudia Taylor Stratford in 2011.

Nationally ranked swimmers in the top ten were.

Ruby Scott 11yr old girls 3^rd 200m backstroke, 4^th 50m freestyle, 6th 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 8th 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke.  Joshua Gilbert 9yr old boys 6^th 200m breaststroke, 7^th 50m breaststroke, 8^th 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 10^th 200m backstroke.  Lauren Wood 10yr old girls Stratford 6th 200m backstroke, 7th 200m individual medley, 8^th 200m breaststroke, and 9th 200m freestyle.  Cameron Trethewey Stratford 10yr old boys 9^th 200m backstroke, 200m Freestyle, 10th 100m freestyle.  Elliot London -Moore NP Aquatics 12yr old boys 7^th 200m breaststroke, 10^th 50m breaststroke.   Aimee Daniels NP Aquatics 10yr old girls 6^th 100m butterfly.  Stephanie Lawrence NP Aquatics 10yr old girls 10th 50m breaststroke.
