Webby Breaks NZ Record in Style
Charlotte has smashed her NZ Record in the 200m butterfly in a time of 2:09.97 at the FINA World Cup in Tokyo.
Breaking the record in the heats yesterday secured Charlotte 7th place going into the final moving up one place to 6th in the final last night. Charlotte is the first NZ woman to go under 2:10 which is a huge benchmark to set. Another Taranaki record went in the 800m freestyle in a time of 8:40.98, previously set by Charlotte in a time of 8:43.05 and placing her 7th in the final.
With 480 Japanese swimmers and international swimmers the standard was extremely high and to get into the finals was huge.
The previous week in Singapore Charlotte was third in the 200m butterfly in a time of 2:10.58 and 5th in the 800m freestyle in a time of 8:43.44.
